What's been going on in OBIS?

  • Arts Week 2023

Fri 30 Jun 2023 Miss Tuck

    Arts Week!

The children have had a fantastic week of exploring the Arts and have had the opportunity to paint, sculpt, dance, create, sing and perform. The children were in mixed year group classes and had great fun trying out the different activities. We hope you enjoy the photos!

  • Bug Hotel St.Mary's church

    Thu 01 Dec 2022

This week the children had the opportunity to help build a bug hotel for St Marys church. This bug hotel was designed by the children at OBIS last year, and the PIOCC team built it specifically for the school and to the children's designs. As part of outdoor learning curriculum, the children gathered lots of materials, they thought would help the local wildlife.

This is a great opportunity to support the local wildlife and for the children to learn about the wildlife in the area. The children and staff of OBIS are hoping to go back and visit the bug hotel over the year and spot any tiny visitors.

  • Basingstoke Christmas Tree Festival

As part of Basingstoke's Christmas Festivities, we were invited to take part in the Christmas Tree Festival. You will be delighted to know that everyone in Year 1 decorated a bauble to hang on the tree and our OBIS tree looks absolutely brilliant.

Please take you children along to view the OBIS tree and others in a magical display of Christmas trees as part of an
    ‘Enchanted Forest’ in Festival Place.

The Enchanted Forest is on display this Saturday 3rd and 10th December
    10am to 7pm
Upper level Festival Place, next to Costa Coffee.

  • World Cup Day - November 2022

    Mon 21 Nov 2022

On Monday, we celebrated the beginning of the Men's World Cup by having our very own World Cup day in school. The children arrived in the morning full of enthusiasm wearing the colours of the team they were supporting and everyone looked fantastic! After a morning learning about the history of the World Cup (ask your child about Pickles the dog!) and the geography of the nation their class was supporting, many of the children came to the hall to cheer on Gareth Southgate's team. The performance and score were exactly what the children were hoping for. After lots of cheering, chanting and celebrating, the children returned to their classrooms full of joy and optimism. Let's hope this joy and optimism lasts well into December!

If your child enjoyed our World Cup Day and is showing an interest in football, below are some fliers that should guide you in where to go next. Little Kickers are great for beginners to football whilst Wildcats offer a  pathway into girls football. Furthermore, Basingstoke Town Colts and Rovers FC offer pathways into boys and girls team football.
