Richard was appointed as a parent governor in November 2018 and sits on the Curriculum Committee and Full Governing Body. He has had two of his children attend the school, both having now moved across to St. Mary's Junior School.
Richard has lived in the village since 2010 and works as a dentist at Gwynne Dental, a local private practice.
Carol has been a co-opted governor at the school since September 2021 and is vice-chair of the Full Governing Body. Carol has worked in Human Resources for over thirty years and brings her experience to the governing body. Now that she is retired, she is often seen at the school representing the governing body as well as getting involved in school activities.
Janet was appointed in October 2019 as a co-opted governor. She was previously a governor to a Further Education College in Oxford, but this is a new role for her with a primary school. Although having taught adults for over 25 years, she has never taught at primary level and therefore whilst familiar with educational jargon, has been interested to learn new acronyms and new statistics that relate to this educational sector. She has one grandson at the school, and another one who has now moved across to St. Mary's Junior School. She sees primary teaching as paramount in setting standards for later education. Until recently, Janet was Teaching and Learning Manager at Basingstoke College of Technology but is now enjoying her retirement and time with her two boisterous grandsons.
Heather became a parent governor in December 2022 and sits on the Curriculum Committee and Full Governing Body. She lives in Old Basing and has three children, two who attend the school and a younger son. She also attended Old Basing Infants as a child herself! Heather trained as primary school teacher and taught in 3 schools in Basingstoke over a 10 year period. When teaching, her roles included English Leader and Key Stage 1 Leader. She currently works as a deputy manager at Old Basing Village Nursery. In her spare time, she enjoys time with family, music and travelling.
Gill became a governor in February 2020 and sits on the Resources Committee and Full Governing Body. She has recently retired as Head of Mathematics, Computing and Business at a local secondary school. Before deciding she wanted to teach, she worked for over 20 years in sales, marketing and management roles in IT related industries. She has lived in the area for over 25 years and her two children both attended Old Basing Infants, albeit a long time ago!
Ayo became a parent governor in January 2024 and sits on the Curriculum Committee and the Full Governing Body. She has one daughter attending the school and a younger son still in nursery. She has lived in Basingstoke since 2021 and works as a Pricing Analyst at De La Rue since 2022.
Alex became a primary school teacher in 2020 after a number of years sports coaching around the world and in the local area. After a couple of years working at a local junior school, Alex returned to Old Basing Infant School in September 2022 after a brief training placement at the school in 2020. Alex became a staff governor at the school in September 2024 and sits on the Curriculum Committee and Full Governing Body. In his spare time, Alex enjoys sports, travel and taking walks in the countryside.
Nigel became a co-opted Governor in March 2024 and sits on the Resources Committee and the Full Governing Body. He has lived in the village for over 20 years and all three of his now adult children attended both Old Basing infants and St Mary’s Juniors. Nigel has recently retired from a long career in Investment Management Regulation.
Grace became a governor in 2023 and has lived in Basingstoke since 1975. She is a qualified Social Worker/Probation Officer and Equality and Diversity Manager. For over forty years she been a volunteer in the local community doing various rolls from cook, co-ordinator and chair person. Grace is delighted to be school governor. To support teachers and parents in the importance of ensuring from year R a good education is delivered. Where, from this beginning the opportunity is given to develop into a respectful tolerant articulate adulthood.
