Pre-School Links

Old Basing Infant School maintains strong links with our two main feeder pre-schools which are Old Basing Village Nursey School and Bolton Under 5's Pre-school, both of which are based in the village. Our staff make visits to these settings during each school year and the children will often visit us with their pre-school, before they start school.

We are aware that the children we receive into Year R also come from a number of different pre-schools within and around Basingstoke. We make links with other pre-schools in the area in order to make sure the transition into school is as smooth as possible.

As part of our transition programme for our new entrants, and with their parents' permission, we will contact every pre-school provider, who has children due to attend our school, at some point during the summer term. We try to visit as many of the pre-schools as we can but when there are almost 30 involved this becomes quite a challenge. If your child is coming alone from a pre-school with no other children we will visit them in their pre-school setting.
